  • Seriously, why would anybody of even moderate affluence want to live in California anymore? Extreme taxes, crappy schools, pollution, difficulty in exercising 2nd amendment rights, crowded, extremely overvalued real estate, high number of illegals, etc.

  • D'oh, I forgot to mention that while a value-added tax means more government overhead than a flat-tax, it solves a big part of California's problem as all residents (legal and illegal) pay into the system as they consume goods and services.

  • Wow, if ever there was an appropriate stage to pilot a flat tax in this country it has to be California. Adding 11%+ to high income earners is just going to drive jobs/corporate headquarters out of California.
